How to Successfully Install Anaconda on a Mac (and Actually Get it to Work)
This is the repository of Oh-My-Zsh, a collection of scripts for Zsh. This is not Zsh. This is not Anaconda. If you think you are posting this in the right place, you are either very mistaken or very stupid. I am on vacation, and apparently have nothing else better to do, so I took a look at the Anaconda downloads pageand Note that you should type "bash", regardless of whether or not you are actually using the bash shell. If you had taken five seconds to Read The Fucking Manualyou would never have encountered the issue, and thus would not have bothered me.
Finally, if you had taken two seconds to add some courtesy to your post a "hi" at the beginning would have been nicemaybe I would have answered a little less aggressively.
You didn't deserve to be spoken to like that. While I cannot speak for the entire Oh My Zsh community The issue was misplaced; however, you failed to take into regard royxue 's primary spoken language.
It may not be English and it is possible that greetings and pleasantries are uncommon in this context. Your hostility is entirely uncalled for, and it's only right that you apologise to royxue for that tirade. On the bright side, you did demonstrate an excellent example of irony by re-writing the entire manual on how not to respond to comments on the Internet.
Wow, I did not mean to trigger so fierce reactions! I do not want to be a troll and spark a gigabyte worth of angry responses either, but some stuff needs be written. So: all apologies, I should not have hypothetically called royxue stupid, neither should I have mentioned him bothering me. Finally, my last line was clearly out of line no pun intended. I understand that kind of rant can shine an ugly light on OMZ contributors, whom I love, and for that I am sorry.
That's for the style of writing — I believe "Read The Fucking Manual" does not count, since it is a well-known phrase . Getting back to the matter: at the time of reading royxue 's post, I did not know what Anaconda was — except a big snake with a capital letter at the beginning.
Still, it took me about a minute and a half to find the solution, mostly because the text I quoted is right on the downloads page, about two centimeters to the right of the download button at least if you select Mac OS X as a platform.
Maybe this is a trait I should try to hide, but I do not like people who ask around for help before even trying to fix the problem by themselves. Moreover, the fact that royxue was obviously asking in the wrong place was aggravating — as was the fact that he only took the time of writing four words namely: "it returns this error"and the count jumps to nine if you include the title and copy-paste the error message.
I believe is is important that everybody understands that GitHub issues are not a commercial ticketing system: nobody is paying for support, and everyone who answers issues is volunteering to do so. In exchange, I think they we? PS: chase being born in an English-speaking country which, by the way, is not my case either is not a requirement to begin a post by a greeting.Download the Anaconda installer. While setting up a computer recently, I remembered how hard it was to get Anaconda to work the first time. The installation itself was no problem! The official guid e is clear and comprehensive when it comes to the installation itself. Just Googling your questions can be challenging. I had actually done this to myself.
After spending some time working in the terminal, I had turned it into something that was fast, efficient, and also very nice to look at. Little did I know that this would make my Anaconda installation a tiny bit more difficult. One single line of code more difficult, as it turns out, but a million times more challenging for a newbie. This can happen for any number of reasons, but Zsh was the culprit here. It was incredibly easy to fix! But because I had no idea what I was doing, it took forever to figure out.
No one else should have to go through that. The official installation guide is here if you feel like checking it out.
